Michael Sopocy

Michael Sopocy is the founder of Main Event Volleyball and a highly accomplished collegiate and club coach. Completing his seventh season as head coach of North Park University women’s volleyball in 2025, Sopocy has led the Vikings to unprecedented success, including the program’s first-ever CCIW title in 2023, a national ranking of 13th, and a double championship with both the CCIW regular season and tournament crowns. His undefeated 2023 conference run earned him his second consecutive CCIW Coach of the Year award.

In 2022, Sopocy propelled North Park to a series of program “firsts,” including a second-place CCIW finish, the program’s first CCIW Tournament championship, first NCAA Tournament berth, and national AVCA Top 25 recognition. He was named 2022 CCIW Coach of the Year and developed North Park’s first All-American, Adriana Rodriguez, the AVCA Region VIII Player of the Year.

Before North Park, Sopocy coached at Bowling Green State University and Cleveland State, specializing in defensive development at the Division I level. At the high school level, he led Resurrection Prep to a State Championship appearance, the best record in school history, and the program’s first GCAC Conference Championship and Super-Sectional title.

Sopocy founded Main Event Volleyball to offer athletes a high-quality, training-focused alternative to traditional club volleyball, built on elite instruction, proven development methods, and the competitive expertise he has demonstrated throughout his career.
